Biography:

Nicole graduated from Boardman Senior High School with honors and obtained her BSAS with honors in Criminal Justice from Youngstown State University in 1997, while working for a Youngstown area law firm. After working in law enforcement with the City of Cleveland for several years, her Lieutenant encouraged her to pursue a law degree. She enrolled in Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in the part-time evening program, where she completed her course of studies while working in law enforcement and earned her J.D in 2007. During law school she became a wife, a mother, was the Vice President of the International Law Students Association, and served as part of a student panel that initiated a for-credit bar study class to increase the school’s bar passage rate.

Upon passing the bar exam in November 2007, Nicole accepted a part-time position with an Akron area law firm, where she handled bankruptcies, estate planning, and assisted with the preparation of domestic relations documents. Nicole later opened and operated her own law firm, where she worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian-ad-Litem, representing the best interests of children in need through court appointments in four counties, and focused on public service work, serving in various positions for different local governments for over eight years.

Nicole has prior work experience as Assistant Law Director and Prosecuting Attorney for several local municipalities. In addition to her employment with Kennedy & Collins Co., LPA, Nicole also serves as the Solicitor for a small municipality in Carroll County.

Nicole and her husband of 20 years, Joseph, are parents of two children. Her spare time is filled with playing, officiating, and coaching volleyball for Ignite Volleyball Club in Twinsburg, Ohio. She also volunteers with both Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio, and Scouts of America, emphasizing the principles of being prepared and leaving people and places better than found. She enjoys camping, short trips with family, stargazing, hiking, serving as a Girl Scout trainer, and facilitating ziplines.
