Norton law firm Kennedy & Collins Co., LPA is pleased to welcome the addition of Attorney Bruce J. May to the firm. Attorney May is joining the firm in an “Of Counsel” capacity during the next several years as he begins to wind down his law practice. “We are eager to have Bruce and his long-time paralegal assistant Lorie Tucker on board and joining the firm. They both have outstanding reputations and offer first-rate knowledge and personalized attention to every client.”


Attorney May has been providing legal services from his office in Barberton since 1985. His areas of focus include elder law, estate planning, probate, real estate and corporate law. His telephone number will remain the same (330-745-9027). Attorney May strongly supports local civic and charitable organizations. Attorney May is a current member and past President of the South Summit Chamber of Commerce, and a current member and past President of the Barberton Rotary Club. He is on the Board of Advisors for the Daughters of Divine Charity, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Barberton Community Foundation.


Attorneys May and Kennedy both come from a long family tradition in the legal profession. Attorney May’s grandfather Dean May was Judge of Summit County Probate Court in the 1940’s. His father, John May, and uncle Robert May practiced law in the Akron and Barberton area for many years. Attorney Kennedy’s great-grandfather Thomas M. Kennedy Sr. immigrated from Ireland in 1871 at the age of 11, eventually settling in Cleveland in 1879, where he began his formal education, culminating in his obtaining a law degree in 1888. He worked as lawyer and prosecutor in Cleveland until he was elected to the bench in 1902, where he served as Judge of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court until his death in 1934. Attorney Kennedy’s grandfather Thomas M. Kennedy Jr. and two of his uncles Thomas, III and Donald were also distinguished lawyers and jurists. Attorney Kennedy currently has five cousins who are lawyers, including the Honorable John William Kennedy, who has served as Superior Court Judge of Contra Costa County, California since 2001.


KENNEDY & COLLINS CO., LPA was established in 1989 by Attorney David R. Kennedy at its present location at 4071 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Norton, OH 44203. Attorney Christy L. Collins joined the firm in 2013, and became a partner in 2017. In addition to her already busy practice, Christy is looking forward to providing her usual exceptional service to Bruce’s clients in the areas of elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning and probate. The Firm has been providing clients with honest advice and practical solutions to help solve their legal issues for the past 33 years.
